Woman Expelled from University for Christian Beliefs Print E-mail

Julea WardJulea Ward had the hopes of becoming a certified counselor. With a 3.9 grade point average, she was only a few months away from graduating with a Master’s degree from Eastern Michigan University. But recently her hopes were dashed.

In a violation of her religious liberty, the University expelled Julea from her Master’s program because she refused to engage in activities contrary to her Christian faith. What was so egregious that caused Julea to be expelled? She would not argue in favor of sinful homosexual lifestyles. When approached by her teacher to counsel someone about their homosexual relationship Julea politely declined and referred the client to another counselor.

Now the Michigan legislature is seeking to approve a bill requiring university counseling programs to accommodate the religious beliefs of students. We really need you to help for this critical battle.

TAKE ACTION:

Help defend Julia’s right to follow her Christian faith and conscience. Contact the Michigan House of Representatives today and urge that they adopt the recently passed Senate Bill 1157 for higher education, and protect the religious liberties of university students.

Julia should have the right to follow her conscience. She should not be forced
to go against her principles. Please adopt the recently p***ed Senate Bill 1157
for higher education, and protect the religious liberties of university
students.

Julea Ward is acting on the convictions she obtained from careful study of the
Word of God. Universities in America should not lower their standards by
forcing individuals like Julea to embrace a belief system opposed to the Bible
and her Christian faith. Universities like Eastern Michigan need more people
like Julea who stand by their convictions and not by political correctness.

Having Christian Beliefs and picking up one's cross and following after Christ
Jesus daily is a different situation. Jesus warned us to agree with the
adversary while in the midst, lest a worse thing happen. In this case the worse
thing happened was being expelled from the University. However, I do agree that
this too is a violation of the Constitution and Julea's right to freedom of
religion, but God's business comes first. What if God needed Julea and all her
