Mazen IshoaIn 2007, an Iraqi Catholic priest Mazen Ishoa was kidnapped by militants, but was later released after Pope Benedict plead for his safety. But in the last few weeks two gunmen entered Ishoa’s home and opened fire killing his father and two brothers.

Over a few short weeks at least fourteen Aramean Christians have been murdered in Iraq. This is the new frontline of terrorism within the country.

Iraqi churches are being bombed and Christians killed in order to intimidate them and keep them from participating in the upcoming elections. This has resulted in a large exodus of Christians out of the Mosul region.

Christians in Iraq need to be protected.
